A Bajillion Months.....
I know it's been forever since I posted on here. I survived my broken ankle and started back running only three weeks after being told it was broken. I know I was supposed to wait a lot longer but, I'm stubborn. Anyway, my mileage and pace had gone down drastically. In the past two months I've been working on getting my pace back up and now I've been working on my mileage. The last two weeks I've had a 39 mile week and a 31 mile week. I ran my best mile ever this past Saturday which was at a 7:02 min/mile. It felt great. This week I'm working at getting 40 miles in but, with my daughter's doctors appointments I'm not sure it'll happen. It feels really good to be back to where I was before my broken leg. Now I need to sign up for a half marathon again. I don't know that my goal for a full marathon is going to happen this year but, we'll see....

Week 2/14-2/20
Me and my medals =)
This is race week. I'm going to try and keep it simple short runs so I don't burn myself out and also because I'm still not 100% better from my illness.
2/14- 4.5miles/8:32 pace/ 37:44minutes total
2/16- 5 miles/ 8:00 pace/ 40 minutes total
2/17- 4.5 miles/ 8:32 pace/ 37:44 minutes total
2/20- 13.1 miles/ 8:35 pace/ 1 hour 52 minutes
Race Details
So a little bragging here but, I'm proud of myself. I had my first race yesterday. It was freezing and really windy. The race route wasn't exactly like they had said it was when I signed up. I was prepared for a paved trail with just a few portions of gravel/dirt. It ended up being the first three miles was all that was paved. The rest was very pot holed gravel and dirt. I wasn't sure how or even if I would make it through considering I haven't got over my cold and was up for two hours during the night with Brynn and Parker.
My first three miles I think I did so good since it was paved and I was freezing and had the energy. My pace was a 7:27 minute mile. After mile 3 and the pavement ended my pace slowed I continued right between 7:50 - 8:15 until about mile 10. I thought I was dying at that point, I had run out of energy. My only goal was to stay where I was in line with the rest of the people, not let anyone pass me, basically stay with the pack. Luckily they all had started to slow down too. My last couple miles were right around 9 minute pace.
I crossed the finish line at 1 hour 52 minutes. I was disappointed. When I got to the race I had decided I would be happy if I could finish between 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 50 minutes. I had done my math wrong on what my mileage pace would be with that. So anyway, when I finished I looked at all my miles on my watch and saw my pace per mile I realized I actually did pretty good. My overall pace was 8:35 minutes per mile. Not bad for a race on gravel and dirt.
Then I went over to check the list of finishers and they told me I had won a medal.... SAY WHAT?! I won third place in my age group and I was the 8th female to finish overall. So, I have to say it was fun to do and I'll definitely be doing more races from now on. I just need to remember to bring some replenishment for during the race and I think I will do better.

Week 2/7-2/13
Well this last week sucked. I got sick with strep throat and a sinus infection making it almost impossible to run. I did manage to get two runs in.
2/8- 5.5miles/ 8:01pace/ 44 minutes total time
2/13- 4.5miles/ 8:32 pace/ 37:44 minutes total time
My first race is this next weekend. I'm getting nervous to see how well I do. I just don't want to be at the back of the pack. I really have no clue what to expect. We'll see =)

Week 1/31-2/6
This week I really feel like I'm getting to my goal and going to be able to do the half marathon in two weeks with an alright time. My knee is holding up pretty well. I tried to run Sunday but, after my long run on Saturday it didn't work. I didn't want to push it since I really want to run the half. So, I did take a few days off, probably should have taken a few more but, I'm addicted to it.

Well after our 10 mile run on Saturday I wasn't sure how my leg was going to feel. It's doing fine. I'm so happy! I am also signing up for a half marathon on the 20th of February. I'm so excited it'll be my first ever "race" although it's just for fun I just am looking forward to getting out and running.

Week 1/17- 1/23
My knee seems better after a three day break and slowing my pace down. I'm hoping to try for at least one long run this week and see how the knee holds up. I called the doctor this morning to see if we could just get the MRI done on it to make sure that it is the patella femoral syndrome and not a tear. He's supposed to call me back.
1/17-1/23
1/18- 2.52 miles/ 7:51 pace/ 19:47 total time
1/19- 3.13 miles/ 8:04 pace/ 25:19 total time
1/20- 5 miles/ 8:54 pace/ 42:45 total time- on the treadmill (I hate the treadmill)
1/21- 4.5 miles/ 8:45 pace/ 38:03 total time- yet another day on the treadmill
1/23- 10.01 miles/ 9:52 pace/ 1 hour 38 min total time
By the end of this week, my knee is feeling pretty good. I have a little pain today after the 10 mile run but, nothing like it was. I think I'm on the mend.

Week 1/10- 1/16
I took a week off of running and can't stay away. I'm trying to keep my knee feeling ok but, I really don't think the doctor has the right diagnosis and I can't get to physical therapy until the end of the month. Annoying. So I'm still running, probably shouldn't be but, I am.
1/10-1/16
1/10- 3.10 miles/ 8:06 pace/ 25:08 total time
1/12- 3.63 miles/ 8:01 pace/ 29:06 total time
1/14- 3.51 miles/ 8:48 pace/ 30:55 total time- note I was pushing Parker in the stroller for this run.
By the end of my run with Parker my knee was killing me so, I took three days off and it was feeling much better. I think not overdoing it and not pushing a kid in the stroller could be beneficial to my knee.
